It’s been a rough 24 hours for our Indy Llew 💛 yesterday she had a picc line placed in her arm, a drain placed in her abdomen to reroute the fluid getting trapped by the blockage, and a biopsy through her back of the lymph nodes that are enlarged. She has been in pain but is always so strong- every second of the day I remind myself to be strong like her. The hardest part is to see her in pain and to see her spirits dampened. Even though she is sweet & cheerful always, she is sad about all of this. She wants to be better just like we all want her to be. So I whisper to her while she sleeps & tell her that one day these hardships will pass, and she’ll be free of this, on her towel at the beach.
I had a hard time choosing which picture to use as the cover, because this evening on the beach was incredibly special & meaningful. Indy was so happy 💗 I’ll treasure these photos, this video, and this moment forever. Ultimately I chose the first picture because it shows the depth and wisdom of a little girl who carries an enormous spirit. This was our last good day in her favorite Rico home.
If Indy can continue to smile so can we ❤️ we just landed in utah & drove straight to the hospital. It feels good to be where we are comfortable & known. And also so incredibly sad that we are back so soon, for this reason. The travel back was nerve wracking but I made note of all the happenings that conspired to get Indy home safely. We still don’t know exactly what is causing this blockage, they think it is a rare complication of transplant. And while that is a serious thing in itself that’s what we are praying it is- because that is better than the alternative.
B took this picture through the window to our hospital room last night. I had just let out a good cry as I held Indy, laid my head down on hers, and fell asleep. As tears fell from my eyes I felt that angels were near. Looking at this picture, there is no question. Indy and I were getting an angel hug. The white halo surrounding my body brought me the comfort I needed last night.
National siblings day 💛
Can’t you just feel the joy (and the wind in both their hair!) through the screen? New fave ☺️
